Holidays to Larnaca
Discover the hidden pleasures of Larnaca
Not just a pretty face, Larnaca has more than just fine beaches and great restaurants to offer holiday-makers. Many divers, for example, come here to dive the wreck of the Zenobia. This huge roll-on, roll-off ferry sank in 1980 on her maiden voyage, fully loaded with trucks and cargo and now lies in 42 metres of water and the top of the wreck is easily accessible by a PADI-certified diver.
Elsewhere the sight of thousands of pink flamingoes nesting for the winter in the Larnaca Salt Lake is one of nature's most extraordinary highlights.
if you're a history buff then Larnaca Castle, with its Byzantine fortifications and foundations dating back to the early 12th century will pique your interest.
Set on the southern side of the island, Larnaca has a couple of superb beaches and has a well-deserved reputation for its excellent restaurants - many of which are rather expensive. That said, decent restaurants at decent prices abound and the Larnaca holidays needn't break the bank.
Get there with flights to Cyprus from Holiday Supermarket - the airport is just outside town, so staying in Larnaca involves minimal ground transportation. All Cyprus holidays are an ideal opportunity to mix good food with plenty of sunshine and exciting sightseeing if you so desire!
