…did you know there's an amazing shipwreck you can dive just off the coast of Larnaca in the bay? It's about 1.5 kms out and is an incredible dive. The Zenobia sank on her maiden voyage as a roll-on roll-off ferry when the ballast tank software malfunctioned. The highest dive point is 17 metres and the lowest about 42 metres so all levels of diver will see something.

Cyprus is an ancient country passed from Greeks to Turks to British and many more in between. The architecture displays this never-ending battle and the history of the place cant help but affect you. The Cypriots are a proud people and they'll enjoy telling you their version of the story. Eating out in Malta - cheap, expensive and everything in between
One exciting thing to remember about Malta is that it represents a cross pollination of so many cuisines because of its history. The food is largely Italian (Sicilian to be exact), and the entire country has those ubiquitous taverna style restaurants everywhere. Happily the bus system is very good, so if you've a mind to discover places away from your hotel area, go exploring and you'll be well rewarded food-wise.
The budget options - You might want to live peasant-style and have a picnic lunch of fresh bread with local cheese and the tastiest tomatoes, washed down with local fresh juices. It's divine and you can then lash out at dinner. Small bakeries and corner shops will sell you all you need. Other budget ideas: look out for pastizzi - a mini pastry filed with cheese or peas. (It's tastier than it sounds.)
Mid price options - it depends on where you're staying of course. Gourmet, gorgeous seafood in a cellar underneath Europe's oldest theatre. Delicious and good value at around 50 Euros for a three-course meal.
Splurge - too easy! De Mondian is the house restaurant in the grandly named Xara Palace Relais et Chateau Hotel, in Mdina. It is fine dining in a 17th century palazzo. Intricate dishes, exquisite flavours and a price to match.

Malta - everything in the Med, rolled into one!
Because of its 'crossroads' aspect, Malta has seen it all in its oft-times turbulent history. The result is a country where all sorts of influences have melded into one, warm, delicious and scenically- marvellous melting pot. Prehistoric temples vie with Crusader forts, Italian cuisine vies with the Greek emphasis on freshness. And the beaches...
Valetta - a tiny city jam-packed with cafes and bars, restaurants and scenic vistas. Everything is within walking distance so you can stroll from massive fortified castle remnant to ye olde marketplace and back again in a morning.
Walk the promenade - at Sliema, St Julian’s & Paceville and eat, drink and party on where Malta's cool crowd gathers. The harbour front is where all the action is and Paceville lights up at night.
Vittoriosa - the ancient city is simply magnificent. The historic waterfront is home to the Palace of the General of the Galleys and the Order of St John's treasury. At the centre of the Grand Harbour, the 16th-century fortification tower Fort St Angelo still guards the harbour.
Hypogeum - is a famous underground temple or tomb in Paola. It appears to be the oldest example of such a structure dating back to around 3600 BC.
The must see - the delightful fishing village of Marsaxlokk on the south-eastern side of Malta tocks all the boxes; picturesque, fresh seafood off the boat that morning cooked as simply as possible that afternoon, and a panoply of boats gracing the harbour.

What to wear, when to go
Malta has a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. The summers are dry with the occasional cold winds in spring. January averages around 20C during the day while summer sees average temps of about 28 - 34C. Perfect beach weather all year round!
