Holidays to Spain

The exotic flamenco dancers, the passion of the people, the tapas that is sweeping the world's restaurants and bars. Staying up until midnight, staying in time with the pounding castanets, walking historic street after street, shopping 'til you drop in the boutiques of Madrid and Barcelona - Spain takes energy! Take in a bullfight, laze away days on the beaches, shake your booty in the night scene of Ibiza. A trip to Spain has truly something for everybody.

Hola! Let's go! There's just so much to see and do in Spain that all you can do is start at the top of 'things to do' and do your best to get to the bottom! You must see the Alhambra in Granada, check out the Guggenheim in Bilbao, wander past the triumphant buildings of Gaudi's Barcelona. Enjoy tapas in any of the bars tucked away in medieval alley ways. Enjoy a flamenco dance in Andalucia, or a village fiesta in Bunol (where you and the locals can throw tomatoes at all day on the last Wednesday in August). Sit in an outside bar and watch the Spanish at play. Visit the Grand Mosque of Cordoba (a site you simply won't believe), run with the bulls in Pamplona, stroll Las Ramblas in Barcelona, a beautiful street open only to pedestrians and full of markets, shops, restaurants and cafes.

Go skiing in the Sierra Navada mountains, take in Real Madrid at a home game, play golf on one of the dozens of courses on the Costa del Sol in Southern Spain.

Visit the three best museums in Madrid - the Museo del Prado where you'll see the best of Spanish art in Velazquez, Goya and El Greco, as well as Picasso and more. You'll find Picasso and Dali in the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and you'll find plenty of old masters in the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Bored? One thing you won't be in Spain. Let yourself go in Spain and you'll discover what passion is really all about!

Hints and tips for your Spain holiday

Spain is hot, the office is not! If you're sitting there at work daydreaming of the good times - let us tempt you further. Holidays to Spain are all about, sun, pool, swimming, long afternoons in the sidewalk cafes and nights under the stars!

Whether it’s cheap holidays to Spain, cheap holidays to Tenerife or cheap holidays to Turkey, not only are there more choices than you can shake a stick at, there are places for every budget and every desire - beaches, sightseeing, food and nightclubs.

The easiest way to get your cheap holidays to Spain is to start daydreaming. Would you like a resort with a quite pool in a scenic spot? Are you more the party-island type? Would you like to do a week in the sun, followed by a week of sightseeing?

Top of the pops are the islands of Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and the Canary Islands. Ibiza is definitely a party town and you know what you're getting in to here. It is full of clubs and bars and the music scene is trendsetting. Ibiza has some of the best clubs in Europe including Space, Privilege, Amnesia and DC10. Service can be patchy but follow the recommendations on your preferred holiday website and you should be fine.

A quieter holiday can be found in Minorca, along with exceptional food. Summer is also fiesta time in Minorca with the locals showing off their joy of dancing and colourful clothing. Minorca is a great place for a family holiday and spending time by the pool. Venture out into the many local restaurants and cafes for service and wonderfully healthy food. And by the way - one of the favourite local drinks is gin!

Majorca started the whole Spanish dream and today it's still a little touristy. That said, the resorts and hotels are now into a second generation spruce up and the food is great. Everything that brought the early holidaymakers is still here - bright sunny days, cool nights and warm water. There are now millions of rooms available (which means you'll find something of value) and the facilities, economy and service is completed geared to the tourist.

The Canaries are further south, off the African coast and boast a hot, bright climate all year round. If you want sun at any time of the year, the Canaries are your place! The Canaries are geared to tourists and you'll find party towns, quiet resorts, glamorous clubs and quiet restaurants - something for everyone. There's also plenty of sightseeing to be done here too. Mount Teide is Spain's tallest mountain and the third tallest volcano in the world and the Teide national Park is a major tourist draw card. This is where you'll find Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. The Carnival of the Canary Islands is one of the biggest in Spain and takes place in February and March.

The mainland resort towns of Benidorm, Malaga and Torremolinos have a chequered past of too much development, done fast and badly. Their reputations suffered and a lot of effort has been put in by local authorities to lift the standards. It has been largely successful, and the facilities and service have improved out of sight and mainland Spain is now a much more attractive proposition.

Holidays to Spain don't have to mean rooms next to the bar and partying until dawn. Many great resorts and hotels exist with fabulous food, plenty of sunshine and things to see!
