The call of the desert!
The UAE, or United Arab Emirates consists of seven emirates in the Arabian Sea, bordering Oman to the east, Qatar to the west and Saudi Arabia to the south. These desert kingdoms have been in place really only since 1971 but of course they've been part of the mysterious Arabian peninsular in a tribal form for the last 3000 years. UAE holidays are a relatively recent phenomenon, with cricket, for example, taking place in Sharjah in an attempt to bring hordes of tourists to the emirates. The 7 states are easy to visit for terrific holidays in UAE and very safe and the extraordinary lengths the rulers have gone to lure the tourist dollar has resulted in a quite spectacular experience.
Let Holiday Supermarket take you there - with hotel choices that are not only the best value, but also the best. Oil revenue has transformed the Gulf States and a lot of the revenue has been poured into creating vast public spaces, huge hotels and recreational centres. Tourists are welcomed with open arms and the traditional Arab hospitality can be a surprise to the jaded westerner!
The Emirates are made up of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain. The capital is Abu Dhabi, which is also the business and financial capital, although Dubai is fast coming on line.
